Last year I popped along to the Spring Knitting & Stitching Show held at London’s Olympia in March.
This is the sister show to Ally Pally one of the many events hosted by Twisted Thread throughout the year. I really enjoyed my 2014 visit – the venue is bright, light and airy, there’s plenty of space, and whilst the show is on a smaller scale than Ally Pally there are still over 200 stalls selling yarn, fabric and other crafting supplies.
In addition to the shopping there is a comprehensive range of bookable Learning Curve Workshops, with classes for beginners to more advanced crafters, and covering everything from crochet, knitting, quilting, dressmaking and tailoring, embroidery, rag-rugging, needle felting…the list goes on!
Other attractions for 2015 include The Crochet Jungle, a collaborative project designed by Kerry Lord of TOFT who is raising funds for two children’s charities – you are strongly encouraged to pick up a crochet hook and add your contribution! A selection of items from the collection and forthcoming exhibitions of the Fashion and Textile Museum will be showcased and visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in fashion drawing sessions. Additional fashion displays include The Knitting & Stitching National Fashion Textiles Competition which is open to students aged 16-19, and the social enterprise, Fashion Enter, who will take you through the step-by-step process from concept to production of a high street garment, along with talks and demonstrations aimed at anyone interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry.
There’s lots to see and do, and I’ll be pottering along at some point for a nosy around but must resist the fabric. Must!
The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show takes place at Olympia Central, London from Thursday 5th March through to Sunday 8th March and you can find out more over on the website. Tickets are £16.00 on the door or £13.00 if booked in advance, but I have 3 pairs of tickets to give away to 3 of my readers so you and a friend can pop along for a spot of light browsing and doing!
All you need to do to enter is reply to this post, leaving me a Spring themed word or comment by midnight on Thursday 19th February 2015. Winners will be picked at random from Mr K’s hat and your tickets will be sent directly from Twisted Thread. Please note that the tickets are only valid for entry on the Thursday, Friday and Sunday of the show and not Saturday 7th March. No alternative prize is available. Good luck!
