As I pack the last few bits and pieces for tonight’s Pom Pom Christmas Party, I can now reveal a new collaboration that has been going on in the background for a few months, which I posted a sneaky peek of over on Instagram back in November…
Many of you will know knitter and sound artist extraordinaire, Felicity KNITSONIK Ford from her brilliant blog, Stranded Colourwork Sourcebook and podcast. Felix is also known for her wonderful wool badges which are crafted from scraps of fabric, with the even smaller scraps from the badge production then being turned into buttons, meaning there is minimal waste at the end of a fabric project.
I’m a massive fan of these woolly button and badges and so when Jules (woollenflower) completed the Daughter of a Shepherd pouches made from Ardalanish fabric, she sent the scraps to Felix to work her magic on. The results are quite simply brilliant and I’m thrilled to be launching them at the party this evening alongside the new 4ply Hebridean & Zwartbles yarn.
Using each of the four fabrics from the pouches, there is a mixture of Tattersall Check, Herringbone Tweed, Diamond Twill and Keystone Tweed across the two products.
You will spot the white selvedge marks in some of them where Felix has managed to use the fabric right up the very edges:
The badges have a diameter of 38mm (1½ inches) and are priced at £2.50 each. The buttons measure 2.5mm (1 inch) diameter and are sold on a card in sets of six priced at £15.00.
I am also hoping to see Danica from Nature’s Luxury this evening who is hand-delivering, all the way from Germany, a new delivery of her Foxen Meets Merino yarn that so many of you have fallen in love with.
Fear not if you can’t get to the party tonight, the Foxen Meets Merino along with the button, badges, new 4ply Daughter of a Shepherd and another soon to be revealed collaboration, will all be available in a big shop update scheduled for early January – I’m determined to get 2017 off to a good start! A newsletter will be sent out after Christmas with information about the date and time of the update so if you haven’t done so already then make sure you have signed up to receive it.
Looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it this evening and do stop by to say hello!
