This Friday, 16th December I will be at the Pompom Christmas Party Marketplace with my Daughter of a Shepherd yarn and goodies.
A whole host of other fab vendors are appearing alongside food stalls and live music and you are welcome to bring your own festive tipple of choice to drink on the evening.
The party runs from 5.30 – 9.30pm at Ugly Duck, 49 Tanner Street, London SE1 3PL. Advance tickets are available over on the Pom Pom website until 9am on Thursday morning, but there will also be a few tickets on the door in case you decide to pop along at last minute.
A new yarn making it’s public debut at the party…
I am so incredibly excited to finally be launching Daughter of a Shepherd 4ply yarn. Spun with the same fibre composition as the DK yarn – 75% Hebridean fleece from the 2015 clip, blended with 25% Zwartbles – this 4ply/fingering weight has 400 metres / 437 yards over each 100g skein and is priced at £20.00.
At a glance, you can tell the DK and 4ply apart by the colour of the string used for attaching the yarn labels which are teal for the 4ply compared to the wine colour used on the DK skeins.
The skeins are from a small sample spin created by John Arbon back in August so we could see how the processed fibre reacted to being spun at this thickness. The outcome is glorious and I fell in love all over again when knitting with it. The fabric is light, bouncy and retains the same halo as the DK and of course the signature scent of the sheep and fields.
I am sure you are going to love it as much as I do, in fact those of you on Instagram have already had a few accidental sneaky peeks when I’ve posted images that you will have presumed were the DK when they were in fact 4ply. I know, very cheeky of me!
This will be the only batch using the 2015 clip as it has now all been spun, so Friday’s release is I guess a ‘soft launch’ before we go into full production for early 2017. It also means that there’s not a lot of it! Roughly 100 skeins will be for sale with half going to the Pom Pom party and the rest made available online after Christmas once the postal service has settled down, but I’ll send a newsletter out with all the release date details in.
I mentioned the postal service and Wednesday 14th December is the last posting day before Christmas for parcels going to the USA and Canada among others (see below), so if you have been thinking about ordering for gifts then please don’t leave it much longer. I’m not allowed to drive at the moment due to a back injury but my festive house elf has offered to do a post office run at 3pm GMT on Wednesday, so it’s best to sort your order either tonight or first thing in the morning. Until end of day on the 19th December, all orders containing goods over the value of £25.00 will receive a complimentary Daughter of a Shepherd cotton tote bag as a small thank you for your ongoing support. Hop over to the Daughter of a Shepherd shop to browse the shelves.
Other last posting dates before Christmas to make a note of are as follows:
Wednesday 14th December: Canada, Finland, Sweden, USA, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland
Friday 16th December: Austria, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland
Tuesday 20th December: UK. You will be welcome to place orders after this day but they will not ship until the New Year.
And now all that business is out of the way, I can also let you know that alongside Daughter of a Shepherd yarn, Little Toller books and FARMERS’ lotions and potions, there will be a few other exciting, surprise goodies coming to the Pom Pom party with me, but I’ll reveal more in the coming days.
Looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it on Friday!
