It’s been a crazy few days at My Life in Knitwear topped off with a wonderful surprise – I woke up on Friday morning to news that I’ve been included in The Handmade Fair #Handmade100 list as nominated and voted for by my followers on Twitter.
I vaguely remember a nomination back in July so it was a lovely surprise to hear I’ve made the list. Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you who put my name forward. I’m incredibly touched to have been nominated and see my name in a list that includes crafty luminaries such as Cath Kidston, the chocolatier Paul A. Young, Tilly & the Buttons, Mr X Stitch himself, and some of my knitting and crochet idols, Kate Davies and Jane Crowfoot to name a few.
The Handmade Fair as presented by Kirstie Allsop, runs from this coming Friday through to Sunday at Hampton Court Palace. I’m hoping to be there on Friday (just waiting on confirmation) for a rummage around and crafty filled day – Mr K might even be making a very rare appearance!
So, as if The Handmade Fair wasn’t exciting enough, this Saturday is the Yarn in the City second Great London Yarn Crawl.
Nine groups of yarn botherers zig and zag around London taking in the best yarn stores the capital has to offer (and these days that’s quite a few), before everyone meets up for a party hosted by Pom Pom Quarterly. I’m really looking forward to it having missed last years event and hope to catch up with a few of you there. There were still a couple of tickets available as I wrote this so if you’re quick you might just grab a spot! All net profits from the event are donated to Refuge, and whilst I have been asked as a guest the cost of my ticket will be made as a donation to the charity. So who’s going?
More news is the winner of the Loom Band It giveaway. Mr K drew a name from his woolly hat and I’m thrilled to say a copy of the book will be winging its way to Jen AC who left the following comment: “Oh my! We need this book. The house is covered in bands! I impose a tax on dropped bands, and I’m hoping to collect enough to make a bracelet of my own!!” I love the idea of a loom band tax and hope you’ve gathered enough bands to start your own project Jen. I’ll be in touch to arrange delivery and there’s another fab giveaway coming later in the week so keep your eyes peeled for news.
Let me know if you will be at either The Handmade Fair or Great London Yarn Crawl by leaving a comment or using the contact form at the top of the page – I’d love to say ‘hello’!
